Part II: Documentary ‘Pirimze’ — 20h

Sophia Tabatadze shows her documentary ‘Pirimze’, about the building of the same name in the Georgian capital Tbilisi. While this imposing building was still a centre of prosperity in the 1980s, it fell into disrepair in the 1990s when the Soviet Union broke up and Georgia gained independence.Craftsmen who used to work in Pirimze moved to smaller workshops in the surrounding district. The film shows these workshops and their fascinating crafts.Tabatadze also moved to the renovated business centre Pirimze Plaza, which replaced Pirimze. Was this transformation really necessary? After the screening, we will discuss Tabatadze’s film together.
