Participation Platform ‘Working in the Arts’

From now on you can take part in an online participation process about the current reform of the ‘artist status’ in Belgium

26/04 – 30/06/2021

Since the reform of the ‘artist status’ in Belgium has been inscribed in the 2020 federal government agreement, a participatory process has been started by ministers Vandenbroucke, Dermagne and Clarinval.

Since 27 April a Technical Working Group was initiated to discuss challenges and proposals for the ‘artist status’ reform.
Taking part in this working group are artist federations from the Flemish and French-speaking communities, experts,
members from the ministers’ cabinets and representatives of Social Security administrations.

Parallel to this Technical Working Group a Participation Platform ‘Working in the arts’ has been set up. Artists and art workers can share their challenges and their proposals about the reform of the ‘artist status’ and the Artist Commission on this platform. The challenges and proposals will be analysed by the Technical Working Group. After this participation process has ended validated ideas will become the basis for political reform and the legislative process.

Jubilee wishes to alert artists and art workers to reflect on and contribute to the improvement of their own working and social security conditions and hopes many will take part in this online platform.

The participation inquiry is available from 26/04 – 30/06/2021
