The Invisible Parliament

Screening of Vincent Meessen‘s The Invisible Parliament (2006) during Video Bar: Bie Michels, a discursive film event at Argos

For the third Video Bar screening programme, artist Bie Michels selected Vincent Meessen’s The Invisible Parliament (2006) and Luc Gobbyn’s Leopold II – Oostende (2009) to be shown alongside her recent film (Pas) Mon Pays (2019). A discursive film event, which invites a reflection on the future of the postcolonial state of Belgium.

Video Bar is ARGOS’s monthly screening-format, introducing both new and old work from their collection. Through a conversational format that emphasizes the collective viewing experience of artist film and video, new exchanges about the selected works are facilitated – be it engaged, personal, and/or informed – while, at the same time, linking them to current developments in contemporary audiovisual arts
